The Chevy 302...

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have had people tell me that Chevy never made a 302 cid engine. That's hard for me to believe since I have owned 2 of them.

It might be a little hard to make out, but if you look close, you can see the 302 sticker on the air cleaner. And if you really take notice, this is the engine compartment of a first generation Camaro.

Here is another picture of the air cleaner sticker.

And this will really be hard to see, but if you look closely at the cowl induction hood, you will see a 302 badge. And the fine young Blonde looks a lot like Sara Jean Underwood, but I don't know for sure.

Oldest daughter's first car...

My Oldest recently got her learners permit. She informed me last night that she wants a Camaro for her first car. I had been planning on giving her my '96 Monte Carlo, but how can a Dad deny a request for a Camaro?

My first car was a 1968 Camaro that I paid $200 bucks for. Back then it was just an old car. You can't touch a complete junker for less than a grand now.

She won't be getting a first generation car, you can count on that. But there are lots of 2nd generation cars out there for decent prices. Anything after that, I have little interest in. The first and second generation cars define the Camaro to me. So I guess I am in the market for a Camaro between the years of 1970 and 1981. I saw a few on craigslist. They had either had the original motor replaced with some hack job POS or were rusted beyond recognition.

I'm sure I can find something that needs work but isn't junk. I have about 9 months to come up with something... plenty of time, plenty of time.

I have a nice little 1973 4 bolt main 350 sitting on an engine stand out in the shed that is dying to go in something. And I have a nice Edelbrock Street Dominator intake sitting on a shelf. I have a gorgeous pair of Chevrolet script valve covers hanging on the wall.... hmmm, I'm getting some ideas here...

What's up with craigslist ads?

I love to browse the ads on craigslist. I stick pretty much to the cars/trucks and parts ads. There are some things I have noticed and that kind of puzzle me a little bit.

1. Dude, wash your nasty ass car before you list it. What the hell is wrong with you. I'm not suggesting a $100 dollar detail job, but a little soap and water would go a long way.

2. Maybe vacuum the car before you take the pictures? At least pick up the stray cheetos or something. If you don't have access to an actual vacuum cleaner, at least use a broom to sweep out the big stuff.

3. Take your pictures during the day. These evening/night time pictures are pretty damn worthless. I guess if you a selling a piece of crap you can hide most of it with pictures in the dark. If you are serious about selling your ride, wait till the next day and take a decent picture.

4. Turn your pictures before you post them. These neck crickers are a pain in the ass. If you don't know how to use a photo editing software, take the pictures right side up. Maybe it's just me, but I refuse to look at an ad with sideways or upside down pictures.

5. Holy shit. Camaro is NOT spelled with an "e". It's written on the car in like 10 places. Dude, wtf?
